12:00-1:45pm. When we hear a voice we make judgments about the person speaking, we react to it automatically, everyone does. Understanding our vocal impact is critical for all aspects of our professional life – meetings, pitches, conference calls – even more so today with our reliance on technology for global communication. So, there’s pressure on each of us not only to perform well but to sound good while we’re doing it.
This fun interactive session, will look at how using a professional but authentic voice is important for getting yourself heard. David will highlight what constitutes a 'good voice” through exploring vocal variety.
Touching on the science of the voice – diaphragmatic breathing, the resonance chamber, the chest and middle voice - participants will practice vocal exercises focusing on posture, breathing and vocal projection. David will also raise awareness about the importance of using different voice styles to suit different audiences, and how we can lower our voice pitch to speak with authority - key skills for empowering people to use their voice more effectively in the workplace.
