The United States is one of only two countries that taxes its citizens when they live abroad. Although the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act of 2017 transitions corporations with overseas branches to Territorial Taxation for Corporations (and will no longer tax profits of foreign subsidiaries), overseas American citizens are still taxed under the onerous citizenship-based taxation regime, and their businesses do not benefit from the new Territorial Taxation for Corporations policies in the recent U.S. tax reform.

Overseas American organizations including Republicans Overseas have been lobbying Congress for financial fairness and freedom for U.S. citizens living abroad. Join us to hear about the latest developments including an upcoming bill on Territorial Taxation for Individuals, what that bill would mean for you as an individual and as a business owner, and what the strategy is for exempting overseas American businesses from the Repatriation Tax / Transition Tax.
