8:00-9:30am. Mr. Hoang Chi Trung, Vietnam's Consul General in Hong Kong, will share his view of the Vietnam boom, the way forward, and his country's position within TPP, ASEAN, the region and the world.
Vietnam has been one of East Asia's strongest-growing economies this decade, and is projected to continue to grow 7-8% annually over the next 20 years. The country is actively encouraging investment to build beyond its base in apparel, footwear, agriculture, and assembly to higher-end manufacturing, tourism, and further integration into regional and international supply chains as it continues its development into a middle-income country.
Increasing application of rule of law, continuing development of a consumer middle class, January's reconfirmation of Mr.
Nguyen Phu Trong to a new five-year term as the country's leader, and the upcoming TPP, which is projected to add 11% to Vietnam's GPD and 28% to its exports by 2025, are all contributing to Vietnam's desirability as a business, investment, and tourism destination.
