12:00-1:45pm. Ever been a bit befuddled by valuation reports talking about Discounted Cash Flow and price-earnings multiples? Wondered why the value of a business to one owner might be different to the value to another?

Or why 'fair value” might differ from 'market value”? Lawyers often come across issues of business value, whether in the context of commercial or family disputes, corporate work, and in other areas. This talk will provide an accessible introduction to business valuation in layman’s terms.

The talk will discuss the standards of value, the fundamental drivers of business value, provide an introduction to the common valuation approaches, and explain when each approach is appropriate and their pros and cons.

No prior financial knowledge is required.
