CEPA 2015: Liberalisation of Trade in Services between the Mainland and
12:00-1:45pm. The Mainland and Hong Kong signed a new Agreement on Trade in Services under the framework of the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) on 27 November 2015 to basically achieve liberalisation of trade in services between the two places.
The Mainland and Hong Kong signed CEPA in 2003. Thereafter, the two sides have broadened and enriched the content of CEPA and signed ten Supplements between 2004 and 2013. In December 2014, the Agreement between the Mainland and Hong Kong on Achieving Basic Liberalisation of Trade in Services in Guangdong (the Guangdong Agreement) was signed under the framework of CEPA, enabling early realisation of basic liberalisation of trade in services between Guangdong and Hong Kong.
On the basis of the Guangdong Agreement, the Agreement on Trade in Services was signed in November 2015 to extend the geographical coverage of liberalisation of trade in services to the whole Mainland and further expand the scope of liberalisation. At the event, Miss Winsome Au, Assistant Director-General of Trade and Industry (Mainland), will update participants on CEPA developments. She will discuss: What are the latest developments of trade and investment liberalisation and facilitation between the Mainland and Hong Kong under CEPA? What are the main features of the Agreement on Trade in Services? What opportunities will the Agreement on Trade in Services bring to Hong Kong service suppliers and international investors in Hong Kong?
