Sherman Chin

Partner at Odgers Berndtson

Based in Hong Kong, Matthew Maslin is Managing Partner of Odgers Berndtson’s Hong Kong office and Head of the Financial Services Practice.  He specializes in finding executives across Corporate, Institutional and Investment Banking, Wealth Management and Consumer Finance, Global Markets and Private Equity.
He has worked in executive search for the last 16 years, specializing in financial services work and has lived in China and Hong Kong for 15 of those.
 
Prior to joining Odgers Berndtson, he was with another international executive search firm in Hong Kong for just under 5 years and a member of their Financial Services team.  During this time he was responsible for engaging and executing senior financial services searches for multinational and regional clients and completed numerous searches across consumer banking, insurance, commercial and corporate banking, asset management, private banking, investment banking and global markets.  He has also worked extensively with regulatory bodies and stock, futures and clearing exchanges to recruit board level individuals. Prior to that, he worked for another international recruiting firm in the UK.
 
He received his BSc from Cardiff University.
 

Sherman Chin is a Partner with Odgers Berndtson’s Hong Kong office.  He specializes in finding executives across various consumer related industries and focuses functionally on HR searches.  Sherman also works on executive assessment projects looking at board composition and other executive management positions.
 
Prior to joining Odgers Berndtson, he was the Regional Head of Talent for British American Tobacco and earlier, the Regional Head of Leadership Development for Credit Suisse.  
 
Prior to working in Human Resources, Sherman was a Principal at another international executive search firm completing searches in the consumer industry, hospitality and financial services.  He also headed their leadership consulting practice for the region.  Sherman has extensive experience in executive coaching.  Earlier in his career, Sherman was a Consultant with Towers Perrin, focusing on compensation, performance management and competency assessment programs.  He also helped PRC state and local enterprises to build their HR infrastructures and systems.
 
Sherman has a Masters of International Affairs degree and an MA in Political Science from Columbia University.
