Hosted by the Intellectual Property Committee and the Entrepreneurs/SME Committee In today's globalised world economy, intellectual property (IP) rights have to be protected against multiple parties from multiple jurisdictions and sometimes under multiple contracts. Conventional litigation-strategies oftentimes hit the brick wall, while solutions based on alternative dispute resolution mechanisms can cater for the evolving needs.
The talk addresses the advantages and disadvantages of IP arbitration which should be weighted on a case-to-case basis and considered when drafting contracts to protect IP rights. In particular, the innovations and possibilities offered by HKIAC under the 2013 HKIAC Administered Arbitration Rules and its Domain Name Dispute Resolution service will be presented.
Join Alan Chiu and Ruth Stackpool-Moore as they discuss the strategic and tactical considerations in drafting and negotiating an arbitration agreement.
