Committee Meeting hosted by Jennifer Parks and Jennifer Wilson, Women of Influence Committee Co-Chairs
As you know, the Women of Influence committee at AmCham strives to increase the participation of women in the leadership of their organizations and in AmCham by offering programs and networking opportunities targeted at the individual and organizational levels to drive both personal development and systemic change.
With that in mind, we'd like to share with you what we're thinking for 2017, and invite you to collaborate with us on facilitating another great year.
Conference - Our main event continues to be our annual conference in November. We are thinking of some themes and one that has come up a few times is 'disruption". What are the main current and future disruptors in the workplace? How do we deal with them? What's technology's role? Any ideas? Networking – On Wednesday night, we had our annual InterCham networking event under the Hong Kong sky at the Seafood Room in Causeway Bay. This was oversubscribed and continues to be a very popular event. We hope to have another purely networking event later in the year that involves cocktails and art. Programming - And lastly, we're planning several content events, including but not limited to a celebration of International Women's Day, screening of an impactful documentary, and discussing themes around working parents, making an impact beyond corporate life, and more. Also, we're trying something out new this year that we hope you will participate in. We're starting an Article Club! We'll meet over lunch on a quarterly basis to discuss a specific article that's likely related to women in business.
We're also looking to expand responsibilities of our Committee Members (yes, that's you!).
If you would like to volunteer for any of the positions below, please let us know.
Social Media Coordinator: Support Chairwomen in managing digital intern for social media strategy related to events and the conference. Partnerships Coordinator: Support Chairwomen in cultivating partnerships with TWF, Community Business, FEW and other like-minded organizations to plan events, support each others' initiatives via posts and emails, etc. InterCham Representative: Attend InterCham meetings as AmCham rep, answer emails on behalf of WOI and help recruit speakers and event attendees from AmCham side. Conference Planning Committee: Work closely with Chairwomen to develop theme, identify and vet potential speakers, solicit marketplace booths, etc.
We'd love to hear from you about all this! Please join us at our Women of Influence Committee meeting on Friday, February 10 @ 12:30pm to discuss the overall plan for the year. We need your good ideas and your energy to make things happen.
