ALL AMCHAM MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN Committee Meeting hosted by Ivan Strunin, Taxation Committee Chair We are pleased to invite you to our Taxation Committee meeting on Tuesday, August 23 at 12:30pm which will be held in AmCham office to welcome a team of delegation from the Government Accountability Office (GAO), who will be visiting Hong Kong. The delegation members will include Ms. Tamara Cross, Assistant Director, Education, Workforce, and Income Security, and Mr. Ted A. Burik, Analyst-In-Charge, Education, Workforce, and Income Security. The purpose of the visit is to study the prevalence and effects of foreign employment-based retirement benefits U.S. citizens earn abroad but never claim. As part of this work, the delegation is conducting case studies in five countries that have sizable populations of U.S.
citizens who work there, including Hong Kong. The delegation hopes to learn more about the tax and retirement security implications of pensions earned abroad by U.S. citizens and the regulatory protocols in place to locate missing or nonresponsive participants.
