How Investment, Partnerships and Policy are Driving a Global Success Story
3:30-5:30pm. Internet markets in the Asia-Pacific region have seen strong growth in the past decade. Take-up of broadband services has grown at 28% per annum since 2005, while usage of online applications and content has grown rapidly, at 28% per annum since 2012. A new piece of research by Analysys Mason explores how the broadband ecosystem has developed in the Asia-Pacific region over the past 15 years, and the opportunities that this has created for consumers and telecoms operators. Highlights from the report, which covers 21 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, ranging from the most advanced broadband markets in the world to the least advanced, will be shared at this session. These highlights include how the tremendous growth in broadband has influenced the growth of telecoms operators in the region, as well as the impact content and application providers have on the growth of the broadband ecosystem and user adoption.
The report also looks at how broadband take-up and usage throughout the region, including in the less connected countries, could be accelerated through innovative partnerships, good regulation and judicious public initiatives. Join us for this sharing session as well as a discussion on the report. This is followed by a networking session with complimentary canapés and drinks . This session is jointly hosted by AmCham HK and Google. The report was commissioned by Google, and prepared independently by Analysys Mason, a global consultancy specialising in telecoms, media and technology.
