12:00-1:45pm. Philanthropy is becoming ever more important in Hong Kong, with successful entrepreneurs and families increasingly concerned to preserve their legacy and make a positive contribution through charitable foundations and corporate social responsibility.
Hong Kong's charity landscape has also encountered significant change in recent years due to an increased focus on governance. This is largely due to a 2013 report by the charity subcommittee of the Law Reform Commission, and the government's requirement for charities to improve their governance framework.
How have these changes encouraged charities to improve their governance standards, benefitting both the charities and the communities they serve?
At this interactive session, Michelle Chow, who has advised on the establishment of many charitable organisations in Hong Kong, will provide an overview of the philanthropic landscape in Hong Kong, and share best practices on how to set up and maintain good governance frameworks when acting for a good cause.
