In recent years, the economy and political situation in Myanmar have gradually adopted in a more open approach. It comes at the right time, offering investment opportunities to the Hong Kong Textiles and Garment industry. Realizing this new prospect, Hon. Feiix Chung has got in touch with the Myanmar government to establish Hong Kong Industrial Park in Myanmar.
In mid-January 2013, Hon Felix Chung organized a trip to Myanmar with a group of 60 people from Hong Kong garment manufacturers to look for investment opportunities to establish Hong Kong Industrial Park in Myanmar. The government of Bago and Yangon had given a verbal promise to reserve about 100 acres of land each for the development of Hong Kong Industrial Park. Now the Government of HKSAR has also agreed to discuss with the Myanmar government to develop some policies that will protect the rights and benefits of Hong Kong investors, therefore, Hon. Felix Chung believed that Hong Kong Industrial Park in Myanmar will be a new production development for Hong Kong Textiles and Garment enterprises.
