Informed on Reform – Impacts of US Health Care Reform on Globally Mobile Employe
Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals
First 15 minutes is for networking Light refreshments included
Hosted by the Insurance & Healthcare Committee When the United States Congress passed the controversial health care reform bill known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) in March 2010, many made predictions about what the law would do to insurers, employers and individuals in the US but no one foresaw the truly global implications the legislation would have around the world. PPACA has had unintended consequences for multi-national employers, globally mobile employees and international insurers from the US to Europe to China.
During this seminar, Elaine McCarthy, Global Director of Product Development at Cigna Global Health Benefits will cover issues impacted by US Health Care Reform such as global competitiveness and the impacts of reform on expatriate benefit plans, the employers who provide the plans and the individuals covered on those plans.
She will provide guidance on how best to structure plans to lessen the impacts on global plans and reduce compliance risks.
Cigna Global Health Benefits is the largest provider of employer sponsored expatriate medical plans covering more than 900,000 members in more than 200 jurisdictions around the world. CGHB has been leading advocacy efforts in Washington DC on PPACA to secure necessary and appropriate accommodations for global expatriate plans.
