12:00-1:45pm. The presentation covers the period from 1996 when natural gas from the Yacheng Field was imported into Hong Kong and used for gas-fired power generation at the Black Point Power Station, the supply of natural gas from the Second West to East Pipeline and the Hong Kong Branch Line in 2013, up to the present day when further import of natural gas in the form of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is being considered to support the proposed increase in the use of natural gas in Hong Kong for
gas-fired power generation to contribute to enhancing its security and diversity of gas supply.
An overview is provided of the plans that CLP has underway to develop an offshore LNG import terminal that will be based on floating storage and regasification technology which has increasingly being used around the world as an LNG import solution since its beginnings in 2005.
