Committee Meeting hosted by Veronica Sze, Food & Beverage Committee Chair
Dear Members,
In response to the incident of 'substandard lard" involving Taiwan and Hong Kong in 2014, the Hong Kong Government is proposing a brand new regulation to further govern the edible fats and oils manufactured locally, imported into and exported from Hong Kong and the recycling of waste cooking oils. AmCham Food & Beverage Committee is organizing a lunch time meeting to share the overall framework of the proposed regulation and to understand view from members on the issue. Items to be covered:
- Mr. Peter Johnston, Vice Chair of Food & Beverage Committee, will give a brief introduction of the proposed regulation, which involves
Amendments to licencing conditions of restaurants and food factory licences; Introduction of licencing requirement for 'waste cooking oil" collectors, disposers, importers and exporters; Amendments to standards for edible fats and oils manufactured locally or imported; Introduction of certification requirements for the product standard of edible fats and oils manufactured locally or imported.
- Meeting participants will:
carry out an open discussion about their views or concerns about the proposed regulation, including the appropriate product scope of the regulation, the pros and cons of the regulation, the impacts to their business, etc. discuss the needs for the AmCham Food and Beverage Committee to further follow up the issue and come up with a way forward together.
As seating is limited, it is essential to confirm your attendance in advance, by clicking on the 'Register' button at the top.
