The Foundation was set up to realize U.S. President Barack Obama's call for 100,000 Americans to study in China by the end of 2014. Its mission is to strengthen U.S.-China relations through Mandarin language learning and study abroad. Ms. McGiffert will speak on the Foundation's latest engagement with the U.S.
and China governments, business and academic communities to build upon a long-term sustainable China Fluent workforce, including the first-ever WorldStrides U.S.-China Student Summit held in Beijing in May 2014, bringing together 200 American university students from more than 30 U.S. campuses and nearly 200 of their Chinese peers. Ms. McGiffert will also elaborate on the impact of the programs in strengthening and deepening the bilateral relations between the U.S. and China.
