Many of today's corporations are incorporating the concept of 'Shared Value" into their CSR programs. Our speaker, Nor Coquillard the President of Enactus China, will address how the non-profit Enactus works with corporations to channel the energy and creativity of university students to start up social enterprises that improve local communities. This global non-profit provides a structure and guidance to over 12,000 students in China on over 200 university campuses. On average the students create over 400 projects per year – many of which are shaped by the CSR foci of Enactus partner companies.
Coquillard will explain how many well-known companies and Enactus work together to help the students teams empower communities; coaching migrant workers to start a business, helping investors create a company in a disadvantaged areas and working with farmers to find new markets or improve cultivation techniques. Mr. Coquillard will describe some of the students' best projects such as creating a call center for disabled people which has become a model adopted by the government for national deployment or the story of how a team organized a farmer's coop that has created major benefits in a particular farming community.
Mr. Coquillard, the former Chairman and President of Cargill China, has focused his attention on Enactus since his retirement from Cargill at the end of 2009. He will also address how Enactus is structured in Hong Kong and the mainland and how it works with the Mainland Government.
