Peter Shay has over 30 years of experience in commercial banking, investment banking and manufacturing in Asia. In 2004, he established Third Generation Capital, a boutique advisory firm which focuses on M&A opportunities in the Asian fashion, retail and sourcing sectors.
Mr. Shay began his career in New York in the international division of Manufacturers Hanover where he focused on trade finance. He moved to Hong Kong with the Bank in 1985 serving as Vice President in charge of Multinationals. From 1989, Mr. Shay worked in the apparel manufacturing sector in Asia as a buyer/manager for a New York outerwear brand, Paramount.
In 1994, He returned to banking to establish a branch for Chase Manhattan Bank in Shanghai. Mr. Shay served as Branch Manager for Chase’s Shanghai operations until 2000, when he joined the Mergers and Acquisitions Group of JPMorgan in Hong Kong. Prior to founding TGC, Peter was a Managing Director at Morgan’s Investment Banking group in Hong Kong.
He is a graduate of Brandeis University and studied Chinese at university in Taiwan. He speaks Mandarin Chinese, and is a CFA charter holder.
