RSVP NEEDED. OPEN TO AMCHAM MEMBERS ONLY. ALL AMCHAM MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN
Hosted by: Clara Ingen-Housz, Law Committee Chair
Dear Committee Members,
This meeting of the Law Committee is part of the recently-launched series of brainstorming sessions during which Law Committee members – in-house and private practitioners – share their views, concerns and best practices with respect to tricky Asia-wide issues. These are questions for which no answer is straightforward, because the laws are unsettled and lack uniformity across the region, and also because cultural differences raise specific challenges on the ground.
On December 13, we will be discussing How to best Protect Personal Data across Asia. Businesses collect personal data and transfer them increasingly fast and in large volumes. Hong Kong's recently passed Personal Data (Privacy) Amendment Ordinance has revealed the significant challenges businesses face in adapting to the new requirements and in making their policies relevant not only in Hong Kong, but also on a regional level.
How to understand the complex regulatory environment and maximise your client's or your organisation's ability to comply with all applicable laws and regulations in manageable way?
Mrs. Anna Gamvros, Partner in ITC at Baker & McKenzie and co-Head of the Privacy and Data Protection Group in Hong Kong, will moderate the discussion.
The next topics we will address are set out below. Please mark your calendar:
- 17 January, 8:00am: How do you... Design and Implement a Sensible Gifts Policy in Asia? (Moderator: Kelly Austin, Gibson Dunn)
- Date to be announced: How do you... Safely Gather Competitive Intelligence in Asia?
