Barbara Finamore

Asia Director of NRDC

Barbara A. Finamore founded NRDC’s China program, which was the first international environmental group to establish a clean energy program in China. NRDC works with China to build capacity and develop innovative laws, policies, technologies, and market mechanisms to accelerate its transition to a clean, low-carbon economy. Ms. Finamore has had nearly 30 years of experience in environmental law and energy policy, and lived or worked in greater China for nearly two decades. Ms. Finamore is also the co-founder and president of the China-U.S. Energy Efficiency Alliance, a nonprofit organization and public-private partnership that works with China to reduce its carbon emissions through energy efficiency. She holds a J.D. degree with honors from Harvard Law School.



David Pettit is director of NRDC's Southern California air program in Santa Monica and an experienced trial and appellate lawyer. Since joining NRDC in 2007, he has focused on curbing pollution in California by litigating against polluting industries and campaigning for clean, alternative energies and greener development in urban areas. David has litigated environmental cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts for many years in private practice and at NRDC, including major air pollution matters, offshore oil spills, groundwater pollution, habitat preservation, and natural resource damage assessment disputes. He has a B.A. in philosophy and a law degree from UCLA.



Simon K W Ng   received his training as a geographer at the University of Hong Kong and the University of Cambridge, UK. He is now a Visiting Scholar at the Institute for the Environment of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and a Senior Research Fellow of Civic Exchange. Simon’s works includes research and teaching on sustainable transportation, livable cities, air quality issues, and local community planning. At present, he is taking a leading role in a number of studies on marine vessels emission in Hong Kong. He has been working closely with the industry, the government, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders to reduce ship and port emissions in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta region.
