12:00-1:45pm. The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership ( RCEP ) is a mega trade deal which aims to cover goods, services, investments, economic and technical cooperation, competition and intellectual property rights between 16 member countries in the Asia Pacific Region.
RCEP countries represent about a third of the world's GDP and 45% of the world population. Talks started in 2012 in Phnom Penh and some of negotiating countries are currently suggesting that trade negotiations should conclude before the end of 2016.
In the light of 13th RCEP round (June 13-17 in Auckland, New-Zealand), Deborah Elms, Executive Director of the Asian Trade Centre will give a feedback on the status of negotiations and discuss the impacts for non RCEP countries in the Region.
