12:00–1:45pm. Americans are going global in record numbers. A 2014 estimate claimed 7.6 million Americans are living abroad. As the number of Americans living abroad increased, so too did global transparency initiatives and the diligent enforcement of regulations. A June 17, 2014 Wall Street Journal article stated that the US government had collected more than $6 billion in taxes, interest and penalties from 43,000 plus taxpayers for unreported foreign income since 2009.
Joan Crain, a global wealth strategist for BNY Mellon Wealth Management, will discuss the issues important to all Americans living abroad. Joan's conversation will cover: Income Taxes- Beware of Double Taxation; The Challenges of Retirement Planning Abroad; Staying Compliant with Filing and Reporting; Investing Wisely When Living Abroad; Planning for a Non-Citizen Spouse; Wealth Transfer Planning; and Expatriation- Look Before You Leap.
