Strategic Imperatives for 2016 and Beyond: Insights from AAFA
Apparel, Footwear & Supply Chain
12:00-1:45pm. The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) sits at the crossroads of all the regulatory and legislative challenges that face the apparel and footwear industry. New demands are being made of our supply chains. Rampant intellectual property theft is on the rise. The U.S. government challenges brands to make more products in the United States, yet competes against us with prison labor. Trade is facing perhaps the biggest challenge it has seen in decades, and election uncertainty has everyone spinning. With a strategic focus on trade, supply chain management, and brand protection, AAFA has been helping the industry chart a course through these challenges in Washington, in the United States, and around the world. What are the industry's top concerns and what can we do collectively and individually to manage them? What opportunities exist and how we can best seize them? Join us on October 26 as we hear from Rick Helfenbein, President and CEO of AAFA.
Helfenbein will share his perspectives drawing upon his Washington, D.C. perch; his role as former AAFA Chairman of the Board; his forty years in sourcing and manufacturing in the textile, apparel, and footwear industries; and his insights into the political world that defines our commercial realities. AAFA will further this conversation at the association's annual Hong Kong Executive Summit on October 27. The event will feature Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau, Mr. Kurt Tong, as its keynote speaker. The Summit and closing reception will take place at the Kowloon Shangri-La Hong Kong.
