Improving Patient Outcomes: A Cancer Strategy for Hong Kong
12:00-1:45pm. Cancer causes 1 in 3 deaths in Hong Kong. The cancer burden in Hong Kong is accentuated by its aging population which is expected to continue growing and will represent 31% of the overall population by 2040. According to the WHO, the most common risk factors for cancer are not hereditary but behavioral and dietary. Therefore, a government-led holistic cancer strategy is critical. This event will outline the findings of a KPMG study which provides a series of recommendations for change in Hong Kong and was produced after consultation with stakeholders and with reference to best international and regional practices.
