7:15pm – 9:30pm (3 standard drinks with light canapés)
Hosted by the Communications & Marketing Committee and Sports & Entertainment Committee
The Superbowl is one of the world's greatest sporting spectacles. While modern day gladiators from two of the world's best American football teams battle it out on the field for the iconic Lombardi Trophy, an epic commercial battle for the American consumer dollar rages in the living rooms of the nation on TV and increasingly on tablets and mobile phones. The eagerly awaited annual Superbowl ads have launched companies and sunk them, helped make and obliterate fortunes.
Many remember Apple's 1984 themed 'We shall prevail,' Master Locks' long running bullet ads, McDonald's Michael Jordan and Larry Bird playing the world's biggest game of HORSE, the sock puppet, E*TRADE's Talking Babies, countless Budweiser ads and most recently Volkswagen's Star Wars Kid.
For this year's price of over US$4 million, a company has just 30 seconds to impact the more than 110 million viewers in America who are already pumped up watching this annual sporting spectacle. The Superbowl ads have become as much a part of the game as the touchdowns and turnovers themselves.
Come join AmCham Communications and Marketing Committee and the Sports and Entertainment Committee as we give thumbs up and down to the best and worst of this year's Superbowl ads. We promise you a great evening with lots of audience participation and debate!
