For the pharmaceutical industry, it is very important to ensure that Hong Kong retains its competitiveness in securing global clinical trials so that we have high quality clinical research in local patient populations. The newly elected Chief Executive also sees this with her pledge to allocate more funding to public hospitals for medical and biotechnological research.

Recently the Hong Kong Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry (HKAPI) began working on a plan to establish a set of recommendations to enhance the attractiveness of Hong Kong in securing pharmaceutical company-sponsored global clinical trials. This event will aim to share these findings and will also further the opportunity for dialogue with the research centres in building an effective research ecosystem for Hong Kong. A brief rundown is as follows:

  • Clinical Trial Competitiveness - Kim Lee
  • Benefits of Building an Ecosystem - Sabrina Chan
  • Stakeholder Perspectives/Panel Discussion - Facilitated by Grace Lau
Panelists (Henry Yau, Managing Director & Honorary Assistant Professor, Clinical Trials Centre, The University of Hong Kong; Kim Lee, Chair, Clinical Trial Taskforce, HKAPI and Sabrina Chan, Executive Director, HKAPI)
