The Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone officially became part of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” six years ago. It has two goals: one is to develop the cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong in all areas of modern services, and the other is to be a testing ground for opening China’s financial system.

Hong Kong enterprises remain the biggest contributor to the Qianhai-Shekou Free Trade Area’s economy. The 4,000+ Hong Kong-funded enterprises account for just 4 percent of the total number of companies registered but generate 22 percent of the area’s total added value and 27 percent of the total revenue, according to the latest statistics released by Qianhai authorities.

Since sharing updates with AmCham members in April 2015, Dr. Witman Hung has lead the Hong Kong office of the Qianhai zone and participated in its ongoing development. We are pleased to have Dr. Hung to join us again to update members on:

  • What are the latest developments in Qianhai, particularly relating to facilitating Hong Kong businesses operating in Qianhai
  • How is Qianhai positioned relative to other parts of China, is it a good platform/channel for trade
  • What have been the developments in cross-border e-commerce and modern logistics

There will also be a Q&A session following the briefing.

First 15-20 minutes is for networking

Hosted by the Food & Beverage Committee and the Transportation & Logistics Committee
