Following the “Smart Hong Kong” consultancy report, the Hong Kong government is formulating the city’s long-awaited smart city blueprint that is aimed for release soon. AmCham is delighted to host the Government Chief Information Officer, Ir. Allen Yeung, JP, in January 2018 to share the important directions laid out in this blueprint for Hong Kong’s smart city development. Businesses across different sectors see various opportunities in Hong Kong’s smart city strategy.

Following the keynote speech, there will be a panel discussion with Mr Allen Yeung joined by Scott Likens, Specialist on data analytics and emerging technologies.

    Allen Yeung

    Government Chief Information Officer at HKSAR Government

    Ir Allen Yeung has extensive experience in the ICT field. He held BSEE from the University of Texas at Austin, MSEE from Purdue University and Executive MBA from HKUST-Kellogg Northwestern University.

    As GCIO, his responsibilities include formulating ICT policies and strategies; leading the E-government programmes; promoting and developing ICT industry as key business and economy driver; and bridging the digital divide.

    Prior to joining the Government in July 2015, Ir Yeung was the Chief Corporate Development Officer of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation. Ir Yeung started his career in 1987 in the Silicon Valley, working for many hi-tech companies. In 1995, he relocated to Hong Kong to further his career development, and served in several senior management positions for multinational enterprises and Hong Kong listed companies.

    Ir Yeung has contributed significantly in promoting and developing the innovation and technology industry in Hong Kong and the region. He has served on many councils and advisory committees in the ICT industry associations, business angel networks, engineer professional bodies, as well as educational institutions.

Scott has comprehensive experience across multiple industries and has helped them with a wide variety of issues related to digital technologies over the years. Scott also leads PwC’s Catalyst solution across HK/CN, helping clients solve for complex problems via design thinking processes.

    Leonie Valentine is Managing Director, Sales & Operations of Google Hong Kong. She has over 20 years of experience in marketing and sales, and has served as Director of Customer Experience for Asia Pacific at Google for the past two years.

    Prior to joining Google, Leonie was Executive Vice President, Customer Service & Operations at CSL Limited. Earlier, she held the position of Chief of Staff for Telstra International Group, and was a member of the Executive Leadership Team charged with managing Telstra Corp’s business growth and assets outside of Australia and New Zealand.

    Leonie holds an Executive Certificate in Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship of Swinburne University, a Master’s Degree in Communication Management from the University of Technology, Sydney, and a Bachelor of Science from Melbourne University.
