Hosted by the Women of Influence Committee Co-Chairs Anne LeBourgeois and Mary McHale
You are invited to join our next Women of Influence Committee remote meeting on Friday, June 12 at 12:30 PM.
In the lead up to our 2020 Conference, 'Global Issues, Local [S]Heros' on June 12th, we are excited to welcome our second duo of local [S]Heroes, both from the nonprofit sector, Jo Hayes, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong and Sue Toomey, Executive Director for HandsOn Hong Kong.
Jo will share her experience leading Habitat Hong Kong, staying mission-focused on ensuring that everyone has a decent, safe and sanitary home, whilst pivoting amidst the challenges of the socio-political unrest and global health crisis. She will cover the role that Habitat Hong Kong plays in advocating for decent and affordable housing and providing support to low-income families, the elderly and people living with disabilities through essential home repairs.
Sue will talk about the work of HandsOn in supporting the nonprofit sector by engaging everyday citizens, schools and companies to volunteer, giving their time and talent to support local community needs. She will describe the impact on her work that the events of the past year have had and how her organization is innovating to serve in new and meaningful ways.
Both Jo and Sue will share their recent experience together as part of a volunteer NGO women leaders task force that came together at the start of the pandemic for the purpose of standing up for the nonprofit sector, raising awareness of the significant financial challenges, and appealing to the government for relief funding. The journey of this now 12-strong task force, is a story of women coming together for a shared purpose and demonstrating the power of collaboration.
We will send a separate email to the registered attendees with joining instructions and provide a ZOOM link, two days prior to the June 12th meeting.
This meeting is exclusively for all AmCham Members. Advance registration is required.
We're looking forward to having you join us!
