The China State Taxation Administration ("STA") has issued the long awaiting final implementation details on the 2019 annual individual income tax ("IIT") reconciliation before the end of 2019. As a result of the latest China IIT Reform, individuals who are China tax residents for IIT purposes are required to perform the annual tax reconciliation in between March 1 and June 30, unless the exceptions apply. Considering that this is the first annual IIT reconciliation filing under the current tax legislation and the filing is substantially different from the old version, it is important for companies and their employees to understand the filing requirements, changes, as well as the key points to note. In this workshop, we will discuss:

  1. Who are required to perform the annual tax reconciliation for 2019 and who can be exempted?
  2. Practical considerations to employers when assisting their employees in performing the annual tax reconciliation
  3. Correlation of the annual tax reconciliation and the application for individual income tax subsidy offered by the local governments in The Greater Bay Area
